Jan completed his studies at the Law Faculty of Charles University in 2001. He followed this by passing the State Viva Voce Examination in 2004.
He entered the profession of advocate in 2003, shortly after his studies. From the very beginning, he combined his professional career with that of JUDr. Drahomír Šachta, who became his teacher and mentor. As an articled clerk, he first worked at Šachta, Zmeškal a partneři, and then later at ŠACHTA & PARTNERS, v.o.s. He became a member of the Czech Bar Association in 2006. As an independent lawyer, he continued to collaborate with the law firm ŠACHTA & PARTNERS, v.o.s., later renamed MSB Legal, v.o.s. He left that firm in 2012 and together with JUDr. Drahomír Šachta, became one of the founding partners of ŠACHTA & ŠPAČEK, advokátní kancelář v.o.s.
He provides his legal services in both Czech and English.
